The Yaeger CPA review course was certainly not the first one I used. The other course I used resulted in passing only one section of the CPA exam. It was due to this experience that I bought Yaeger's Home Study Course, which resulted in helping me to pass all three sections with great scores. The Yaeger website makes bold claims as they profess a high pass rate of 88%. The founder, Dr. Phil Yaeger, has been preparing candidates for the exam since 1977. Dr. Yaeger and his team offers something that unique and distinctive from competitors - an "Instructors Hotline" (an 800 number) that candidates can call to ask questions about the key concepts or about the CPA exam in general. I myself have made plenty of calls to this hotline and have spoken to very patient professors (including Dr. Yaeger himself a couple of times) who never completed the call until all my questions were answered. The lecture videos are fully engaging and are delivered by experienced instructors. The lecturer would initially explain relevant concepts, and then take candidates through multiple choice questions and simulations. An advantage with the Yaeger system is they concentrated on materials with a high probability of turning up on the exam. Likewise, they would advise students to spend time on doing simulation questions that have the highest chances of showing up in the actual exam. I also felt the cram DVDs offered good value and responsible for a few point boost to my final exam marks. Each DVD teaches a concentrated version of a single CPA section and varies between 7-16 hours. The emphasis really seems to be on identifying areas you have weaknesses with and building belief and knowledge to improve them. I doubt it makes much difference whichever CPA review course you use, the Yaeger cram DVDs will complement any course and provide lots of last-minute understanding. Each year, the Yaeger CPA review course is revised. This includes the lesson videos they record annually. It means the course is pretty much current and you can have assurance the material is still relevant. The total cost of the Yaeger products caught me by surprise as it is less than other CPA exam review courses - despite better quality than some. Overall, I am very content with the Yaeger CPA review course and would recommend it highly to anyone wanting to succeed in the CPA exam.
