Non-profit organization the YMCA, in whose name is synonymous with the famous tune and dance by The Village People, has decided to change it's title to simply "Y". YMCA stands for the "Young Man's Christian Association," and will still uphold Christian ideals, according to Sharon M. Henderson, director of marketing and public relations at The Y of your local area. "We tend to be committed to this history," she said. "This is an organization started on Christian concepts, and our objective is to instill those imperatives... The new logo is a different Y, and it still has ymca along the base. The Y functions every day to resolve issues Americans are worried about, like better health outcomes. That's that we are. We want individuals to communicate our mission with one tone of voice." The title change comes from study done that shows people don't quite know very well what the group will. The Y's mission would be to build up communities through concentrating on youth outreach programs. I have a thyroid situation, and, in order to help keep my metabolism in check, it is imperative that I exercise. I also possess a 2-year-old daughter who I'm a stay-at-home mom for. With my husband becoming the main bread winner right now, we have to stay on a tight budget. I did not think joining a gym was possible. I was frustrated, fatigued and was feeling like I had no options when this came to being able to have a regular workout. Until, eventually, my neighbor, Christina Porcelli, who is a member of the Green Hills Y within Nashville, Tenn., changed my life. I was playing outside with my child, and Christina walked by. She told me exactly how she had just come back from the gym. I said We wished I could start working out, but, along with my finances and Darian (my daughter) becoming my main concern, I could never join right now. She proceeded in order to enlighten me about the Ymca. She told me how the Y's membership fees go according to your income, so it is quite affordable. Then, Christina explained that they have a daycare that is included in your regular membership. I could just drop Darian off, she might play and interact with other children and that i get a nice work out in. I was so excited that I immediately drove over to the Y to inquire about all this great information. Affirmed, I was able to subscribe to a very doable month-to-month membership fee. We checked out the day treatment room and met with the very fairly sweet ladies who run this. They gave Darian and I a tour, and, by the end of it, I had to bribe her having a smoothie from their adorable little caf? bar to obtain her out.
