At first my wife didn't understand why I wanted to buy coffee online. She was so used to picking it up at the grocery store that she didn't get my point. At first she didn't get it. I explained to her that there was nothing odd about buying coffee on the internet. After all, you can buy almost anything online these days, from airplanes to yachts and everything in between. A local store is simply no match for the variety of coffee beans available on the internet. Coffee from anywhere in the world is available, without leaving your house. Let's be honest. Grocery store coffee is nothing to write home about. For the most part, grocery stores carry plain-Jane coffee. These stores have low markup, therefore they need to move their product fast. Coffee that moves the fastest is coffee that appeals to the lowest common denominator. So don't expect a wonderful gourmet experience when you buy your coffee from a grocery store. Coffee beans bought online travel a straighter path from the farm to the consumer's home. When you buy beans in a grocery store, it usually comes from a regional warehouse, which in turn gets its product from a distributor. Buying from a company that specializes in coffee is a good idea if you're interested in a higher-quality coffee. These companies are usually small and operated directly by the owner. They are run by people who love coffee. They have both the skill and knowledge to provide a better product because, this is their only business. In life you get what you pay for, and buying coffee is no different. Yes you can get cheap coffee at the neighborhood grocery store.But the problem is that coffee tastes. Well, cheap! Where does that bargain coffee end up? In the garbage! Now that cheap coffee is getting expensive. In reality, the majority of people don't have a good place close at hand to buy gourmet coffee beans. If you don't live in a large metropolitan area, you are most likely out of luck. Those who do live in the city aren't necessarily better off. Fighting traffic and wasting time driving halfway across town is not anybody's idea of a fun time. Buying coffee online is simpler, easier and much more fun.
